It looks like the number of Americans asking for unemployment benefits has stayed the same, even though the job market is still not acting the way the Federal Reserve thought it would. The number of jobless claims for the week stayed the same, according to the Labor Department.

It’s easy to see how layoffs are changing and where the job market is going by looking at these weekly jobless claims. Low amounts have been seen since the pandemic as a result of people losing their jobs.

The Federal Reserve has changed its standard a lot because it wants to lower the very high inflation rate. In the end, they wanted to loosen the job market and slow pay growth, which they said was a cause of high inflation.

Despite economists’ predictions of a slowdown, the job market and economy have stayed strong thanks to people’s deliberate spending. Over 300,000 new jobs were created by businesses last month. This could be evidence that the job market in the United States is getting better.

However, a lot of layoff notices have been sent out by big companies like Apple, eBay, TikTok, Amazon, and Alphabet. UPS, Los Angeles Times, and Tesla are some of the other companies that have said they will be cutting jobs. Companies might do this for a number of reasons, including saving money, which is helpful in these tough economic times.

At the beginning of the month, almost two million people were getting unemployment payments every week.
