TikTok has tried to fight a bill that would make the social media app available for purchase, claiming that it violates the First Amendment.

According to TikTok, it is sad that the House of Representatives is using the guise of important foreign and humanitarian aid to push through another ban bill that would violate the free speech rights of 170 million Americans.

The bill passed the House and is now going to the Senate. It will then go to President Biden, who has said he will sign it into law. This was part of a bigger package that had to be accepted. It included aid for Taiwan, Israel, and Ukraine.

ByteDance, the company that runs TikTok, would have about nine months to sell the app or take it off of app stores in the US.

Officials in the US have said that the social media app is a threat to citizens because Beijing could use information it gets from the app against the US.

When Donald Trump was president, he tried to ban the social media app TikTok, but the move was stopped because people said it broke their rights to free speech and due process.

This is still something that people are looking into as the bill goes forward for a sale, but for now it will keep moving forward. The Biden Administration has said that they will extend the nine months to twelve months if they think that the sale of the app is making progress.
