The Anaheim City Council just gave the go-ahead for a plan to make Disneyland even bigger. The increase will cost Disney almost $2 million. It will be the biggest growth at one of Disney’s theme parks in California in many years.

Disney would add on to their theme park to make it more immersive and add new Disney hits like “Frozen” or “Zootopia.” Under the terms of the deal, Disney would also have to pay for changes to the streets, low-cost housing, and city infrastructure.

The plan was unanimously approved by the council. It will now go to a second council to be passed for sure. The plan would help make room for more exhibits by moving parking to a building with more than one floor. This would let them grow.

As part of their plan, Disney has also thought about buying a public street to turn into a walkway. They also want to change some places by adding crosswalks. A lot of people in the area have looked into this to make transportation safer for people going around and near Disney World.

“Not a single project or change is perfect. “But in this case, I think the gives are greater than the takes,” said Scott Martindale, who lives close to the park and thinks crosswalks would make it safer.

People in the area have said that they are glad that the exhibit might get bigger, but they are afraid that the company will buy up streets. They said that Disney would own the streets after that, so politicians wouldn’t have much control over what happened after that.

Thank you to Disney, the city gets a lot of money and tourists. This growth could bring even more of those things. Some people are worried about the details, even though most people are interested in the plans.
