The Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer (CAIO) is the name of the newest job in artificial intelligence, but it might not be as useful or powerful as it seems.
This new job has become more common in many businesses and is said to have tripled in size in just five years. Businesses, tech experts, and companies are getting ready for the future of artificial intelligence. To do this, they’ve found that the most important jobs to fill right now are CAIO, engineer, and AI scholar.
But a lot of experts, including Chief Artificial Intelligence Officers, have said that putting someone in this role without giving them the right training can hurt the business. Nick Elprin, who is the co-founder and CEO of Domino Data Lab and works with AI, talked about the job.
Elprin said, “The most common problem I see is that the chief AI officer doesn’t have the authority to handle the responsibilities and expectations that are put on them.” “Otherwise, there’s just a figurehead being asked for advice, but they can’t control their fate,” he said.
Plus, he said that you can’t just hire someone with tech knowledge for this job; they need to be able to explain tech in a way that regular people can understand.
Armada builds data centers for AI workloads. Their Chief AI Officer, Prag Mishra, says, “The way we understand the implications of using AI needs to become clear across the whole senior management.”
Experts have also said that some companies don’t need a CAIO right now, but that they might want to add one in the future as AI becomes more famous and their business grows.
“There needs to be someone very much responsible for the implementation and understanding the deployment and the impact,” Mishra said about the job.
