People in the United States call illegal immigration a “critical threat”?!

A poll done not long ago found that more than half of people in the US think the immigration problem is a “critical threat.”

Over 1,000 people were asked by phone between February 1 and February 20. From the poll, we learned that about 28% of Americans think that illegal immigration is the most important problem the US is having right now. Even when you look at other possible problems like the business, inflation, and the government, this is pretty small.

It found that more than half of American adults thought the large number of immigrants was a “critical threat.” Then, 31% of Americans said the issue of immigrants was an “important threat,” while 14% said it was a “not important” threat.

The Gallup study comes at a time when immigration is getting more attention because of the upcoming election. The United States has been fighting an immigration problem that keeps getting worse for a few years now.

Since Joe Biden took office, millions of people have been caught crossing the country illegally. There have been a lot of problems along the southern border. There have also been months with more encounters than ever before, like December 2023, when over 300,000 happened. In total, there have been 2 million encounters in the last year.

Many people have said that the border could be better protected with more resources, but nothing can be done until these funds are approved. Congress has been trying to find laws they can send to the president that will solve this problem and have a good chance of being approved.

This poll comes not long after it was confirmed that the person charged with killing a 22-year-old nursing student from Georgia was an immigrant from Venezuela.
